Maple Butterscotch Sauce

  • 1/2 cup <p class="p1">granulated maple sugar or light brown sugar, packed</p>
  • 1/2 cup Hutchinson maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup <p class="p1">(1 stick) unsalted butter</p>
  • 1/2 cup <p class="p1">heavy cream</p>
  • <p class="p1">pinch coarse kosher salt</p>
  1. Melt the maple sugar, butter, and maple syrup together in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Once the sugar is dissolved and the butter is melted, increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil.

  3. Cook for 4 minutes without stirring.

  4. Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the cream (be careful; it may sputter a bit.) Stir in the salt.

  5. Pour into a storage container and let cool, then refrigerate
